Kiana Smith is currently an Intern with an NGO, ATOP Meaningful World. There she is an Intern at the UN and Educational Intern where she spends approximately 60% of her weekly hours on this role being physically/virtually present at the UN every Thursday from 10 am – 4 pm. Her secondary responsibilities as Education Intern (40%) include; assistance with managing the organization’s social media outreach involving content, measurement of engagement, and development of long-term growth. Coordination of monthly newsletters, as well as developing templates and content for listservs. . She is also a part of the InSpira Administrative Staff, along with being the creator of their website launched in November 2021. She works with the InSpira administrative team to help create and build a safe space for all of the InSpira dancers and families that enter the studio. Kiana started her journey with InSpira at the beginning of InSpira’s creation in the year of 2002. She trained with InSpira from the young age of 2 years old until she graduated high school in 2017. She graduated high school from a boarding school in Massachusetts called Wilbraham and Monson Academy which instilled her love of culture and service when being blessed with scholarships to travel to Cuba with her high school and an opportunity with her Girl Scout troop to explore Costa Rica. With the amazing and life-changing experiences of traveling abroad in High School, she continued her studies at Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania where she received a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and International Relations with a concentration in the region of Spain. With this degree, she was able to attend a 5-week summer immersion program in Malaga, Spain and along with attending the Universidad de Málaga for a semester as well. In Spain, she started researching the influence of black bodies and their influence in Spanish culture and society along with its connection with the migration flow into the Spanish peninsula. While studying abroad during Kiana’s undergraduate degree, she was introduced to the marketing world by having internships both in New Jersey and New York City where she attained skills in market research, social media strategy, and much more. While in college she was involved in things like a community service group on campus called ESL helping spouses of military personnel coming to study in America with their English. She was also a Global Ambassador at Dickinson College representing Spain, one of the selected students for Dickinson College’s Emerging Leaders program, also being selected to be in a Senior Secret Honor Society entitled Wheel & Chain, and a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority inc. initiated at the Upsilon Delta Chapter in Spring 2021.
After graduating undergrad in May 2021, she started her next chapter in her academic journey by currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in diplomacy and international relations specializing in International Security and International Organizations at Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. As she continues to pursue her master’s degree she also started her own web design company launching in January 2022 where she has created websites for different organizations and eCommerce stores from Corridor IV of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity inc to InSpira’s very own website launching in November 2021.
